With the onset of autumn there is still a lot of activity to look forward to this month, and plenty of reason to use your MG in the region. Before that however, mention must be made of the very successful day that the Anglia Centre were invited to at Duxford Imperial War Museum on August 10th. The event was organised by the MGB Register as their Summer Picnic. A large contingent made the journey from our region, with John Cummings of the Needham Market Natter organising a lovely route to Duxford to get us in the mood for the day. At Duxford, we parked as a group and the MGs made a wonderful sight on the grass at the perimeter of the old airfield. A very nostalgic day with Picnic on the grass and plenty of time to wander round the hangers of the museum and see the aircraft. Snetterton Also in the end of term party spirit, is the four-hour relay on the Sunday. Unfortunately I can't make that race this year, but will be rooting for Simon Tinkler and his team who I drove with last year. Simon's Father, Richard, will run the team again very ably, in a relaxed but professional manner. Autotesting As you will see from last month's report, it is a very friendly and cost effective smiles per mile activity. As a total coincidence, unbeknown to me when I wrote the column last month, MG Enthusiast magazine also did a very interesting article on the subject, which is well worth reading if you can get hold of a copy. Those who would like to take part at Bircham, as driver, marshal or spectator can get more details from Bruce Cox on 01485 540173 or Pete Thompson on 01362 668101 Brighton Veteran Car Run Woolpack Day Out |
